Meet Daphne
Full-time creator and artist
My name is Marijke Daphne, and I am born and raised in The Netherlands. My mother and grandmothers were always creating, and so I started knitting and sewing at a very young age. When I was in my teens I had a little knitting break, but around the age of 18, I found back my knitting needles and haven't stopped since.
I was raised in a musical family, and after finishing school I studied singing at a conservatory. I moved to Germany, and I'm still living there at the moment.
As a professional soloist singer, there are plenty of opperturnities to knit. When on rehearsals, waiting for a concert to start or commuting, I always have my knitting in close reach. And I have quite a lot of time in a day that I can fill in freely, so knitting started to take up more and more of that time.
Very soon I started to make my own designs - first only for myself, then for friends, and at a certain moment, I decided to start creating patterns from my designs. What a wonderful rabbit hole that is! Scaling, writing, testing, photographing.. Creating knitting patterns is one of the most fun things I ever did, but there's a lot to it. Suddenly I found myself running a little business!
Since I published my first professionally made & tested knitting pattern in December 2024, things started to go pretty fast. I am now devoting almost all of my time to creating beautiful knitting patterns and making them accessible to you!
